HILLSVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Thunderstorms roared across several parts of Southwest and Central Virginia on April 11. Strong winds and heavy rain hit communities across Carroll County leading crews in the county to respond to multiple incidents on Highway 58.

Wind gusts of up to 65 mph, knocked over power lines and trees and left hundreds in the dark.

The Hillsville Fire Department says shortly before 8 p.m., they responded to calls at the intersection of Highway 58 and Farmers Market Drive. When crews arrived, they found all the incidents to be weather-related from straight-line winds.

The department said no one was hurt and all hazards were mitigated.
