Photos: Storm in southern Wisconsin that resulted in tornado warnings, dime-sized hail

(WFRV) – Residents in southern Wisconsin were greeted with tornado warnings and hail as a storm moving through the southern part of the state brought some high winds and precipitation.

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office posted pictures on its Facebook page from the storm that happened on March 4. The photos were reportedly taken in the area of County Hwy C and Christie Road in the Town of Darien.

A tornado warning was previously issued for southeastern Rock County in south Central Wisconsin. the warning was issued by the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan.

The message at the time advised residents to take cover and move to a basement. On March 4, around 3:10 p.m. a severe thunderstorm that was reportedly capable of producing a tornado was located near Rockton.

The National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan did not mention if any tornadoes hit the ground but did say the tornado threat was decreasing. There was mention of hail reaching up to the size of a dime.

Officials did release the estimated rainfall totals from the storm. With some places nearly getting 1.5 inches.
