Photos: Snowy road conditions on Monday morning commute

DENVER (KDVR) — If you’re heading to work on Monday morning, expect slippery roads and poor visibility.

Sunday’s snow along the Front Range continued into the Monday morning commute. While the majority of the storm is over and the snow is tapering off, the roadways aren’t clear just yet.

CDOT: Avoid these roads amid blizzard-like conditions

Here’s what some of the major roadways looked like as of 9:30 a.m. on Monday.

Interstate 25

I-25 still had lingering snow as of Monday morning. However, those flakes disapeared after the sun came up.

The roads are clear as of 9:30 a.m.

Interstate 225

I-225 saw some problems on Monday morning as there were several slide-offs, emergency crews on scene and standstill traffic.

Southbound I-225 near Parker Road was a parking lot due to a crash. Meanwhile, there were several slide-offs on northbound I-225.

The roads have since cleared from snow and traffic at 9:30 a.m. While it’s not nearly as congested, the roads are still wet and there are many cars passing through.

US 36

There was low visability just south of Denver on U.S. 36 earilier Monday morning.

At 9:30 a.m., the roadway was cleared of most its snow and the visability opened up. There are still some snowy patches, so drive carefully.

Interstate 70

During the morning traffic, I-70 was backed up around 7 a.m.

As of 9:30 a.m., the roadways were clear of cars and snow, making for an easy morning commute if you’re just heading out.

Vail Pass

There was extremely low visibility on Vail Pass on Monday at 7 a.m.

The Colorado Department of Transportation cameras showed the full roads weren’t cleared off at 7 a.m., but the roads were fully clear as of 9:30 a.m.

US 6

Earlier this morning, U.S. 6 in Lakewood wasn’t cleared off from Sunday’s snowstorm.

As of 9:30 a.m., the roads were cleared from snow, but the roadway is still slick.

U.S. 6 near the Eisenhower Tunnel is about the same, where it had snowy roads at sunrise, but has turned into slick but clear conditions as of 9:30 a.m.

Roads closed

As of Monday at 9:30 a.m., these roads are closed, according to cotrip:

  • U.S. 385 is closed in both directions from Cheyenne Wells to Burlington due to adverse weather conditions.

  • Westbound I-70 is closed 8 miles west of Burlington at mile post 429, due to a spun out semi.  Alternate route advised.
