On Wednesday, Canada will join dozens of other countries and destinations around the world in decriminalizing cannabis and/or making it legal for recreational consumption. October 17 will go down as a big day for Canada, when the country ends its prohibition on the use of marijuana. The move is meant to deal a blow to the black market and drug-related crime, regulate the market and protect public health. Canada is following on the heels of Uruguay, which became the first country in the world to fully legalize marijuana in 2013.
