(KRON) — The Oakland Athletics have just released renderings of their new stadium in Las Vegas. The $1.5 billion project is intended to house 33,000 fans, a 2.5-acre plaza, and an 18,000-foot jumbotron– making it the largest in the MLB, the Oakland Athletics announced on Tuesday.

The outfield will also feature the world’s largest cable-net glass windows, according to the A’s, facing the corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Boulevards. Its parking lot is set to hold up to 2,500 spots, as well as a 2.5-acre shopping plaza northwest of the stadium.

The stadium will feature a baseball pennant-inspired design with five overlapping layers of glass. The placement of the glass is set to the north, allowing natural lighting and views of the strip, whilst also limiting direct sunlight coming from the south.

Bjarke Ingels Group, and Howard, Needles, Tammen and Bergendoff are the architectural firms in charge of the design. HNTB was the architect for the Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium.

“The collaboration between BIG’s creativity and HNTB’s technical expertise allows for a truly innovative and bold design while ensuring an unmatched fan experience,” said Athletics Managing Partner and Owner John Fisher. “We hope to add to the dynamic atmosphere and liveliness of the Las Vegas Strip, creating a welcoming environment for all of Southern Nevada.”

The A’s will continue to refine the ballpark design over the next year. The ballpark is set to open for the 2028 season.

MLB owners unanimously approved in November the A’s application to relocate, but there remain many questions before they move. The A’s will stay in Oakland at least through this season, but no announcements have been made about their home games beyond this year. They met recently with the city to discuss the possibility of an agreement to play there beyond 2024. Playing across the San Francisco Bay in the Giants home is another possibility, as are a temporary move to Salt Lake City or Sacramento.
