Photos: Dazzling sunset greets spectators for New York City's Manhattanhenge
Those hoping to capture stunning photos of Thursday night's Manhattanhenge event in New York City were not disappointed.
Spectators filled the streets just before sunset on July 12 to catch a glimpse of the unique celestial event, during which the setting sun perfectly lines up with the roads running east to west on Manhattan's street grid.
"Being an hour away from New York, I think it was worth the drive," Manhattanhenge spectator Pranet Kotah told AccuWeather.
Clear skies greeted the crowds during Thursday's event, which featured the full sun visible on the grid. Half of the sun will appear on the grid for onlookers on Friday.
Although the final Manhattanhenge of 2018 takes place on Friday the 13th, New Yorkers and tourists should be in luck once again as they take to the streets to view the breathtaking sunset.
"The weather should be mostly clear, so viewing conditions look good," said AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams.
Friday's Manhattanhenge event will take place at 8:21 p.m. EDT.
