Photos: Car goes over cliff, into Skamania County river

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A car went over a steep cliff Friday and ended up in a Skamania County river, authorities said.

According to the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office, a car traveling on SR 141 had gone over the cliff and fallen into the Big White Salmon River.

Two people had minor injuries, but they were treated at the scene officials said, the car however needed to be removed from the river.

After waiting till daylight, officials said they sent in five divers with the Skamiania County Sheriff’s Dive Rescue/Recovery Team to secure the car.

Five divers made their way upstream to the car, and rigged it up, allowing a towing company to remove the car from the river.

The crash is under investigation by the Washington State Patrol.
