BART service through Berkeley tunnel restored after power outage resolved

(KRON) — BART service through the Berkeley Hills Tunnel has been restored after a PG&E power outage disrupted service on the Dublin/Pleasanton and Daly City directions earlier, BART officials said on X. Bus service was provided between West Dublin/Pleasanton station and the Dublin/ Pleasanton on any Rapid bus.

PG&E told KRON the power outage occurred due to strong winds hitting a branch, causing the branch to fall on a PG&E line. Around 2,328 customers in the Orinda area were affected.

An equipment problem was also found between Rockridge and Orinda on Thursday, forcing BART to temporarily halt in the Berkeley Hills Tunnel at 10:43 am, BART officials shared on X.

As of 11:35 am, BART services have resumed between Rockridge and Orinda, BART officials said on X. There is still a major delay on the Antioch Line in the SFO and Antioch directions due to an earlier equipment problem in the Berkeley Hills Tunnel, BART officials said on X.

Here’s what BART officials are saying to commuters:

Passengers traveling on the Antioch line consider alternate means of transportation. Use the BART Trip Planner on bart.gov or the BART app to find transit alternatives based on your location by deselecting BART in “transit options.” View a map of bus alternatives at bart.gov/transbayalts

Commuters in the Richmond / Berryessa lines have not been affected and are not experiencing any delays.
