PetSmart groomer's deplorable treatment of small dog caught on viral video
A video posted on Facebook shows a small black-and-white shih tzu being abused by a PetSmart employee while she was trimming the dog’s hair.
The incident took place Thursday, and the dog’s owner, Brook Vowers, wrote this about the now-viral video of the abuse:
“Just took my dog to get groomed and as I’m walking out this lady comes up to me and said she’s been waiting for an hour to see who’s dog this was because of how mean the groomer was to her and that she called corporate. She sent me this video I am sick to my stomach about it and will not be going back !!!!!!!!!hope CHARLOTTE BARNES enjoys the video of her wonderful service PLEASE SHARE.”
Vowers obtained the video recorded by two witnesses who waited for her to arrive to pick up her 2-year-old dog, Boo.
Zahiana Jenkins was at the Texas store location when she saw the abuse. She wrote, “Something I witnessed today. Me and Terah Leder were flooded with anger while watching this woman “groom” this very sweet animal. It came to the point where it wouldn’t have felt right to leave without finding the owner and letting her know what happened to her sweet baby.”
The PetSmart in Katy, a suburban city west of Houston, said the employee has been fired. “This treatment is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” a PetSmart spokeswoman said. “The associate was immediately terminated. At PetSmart, we all love pets, and this video does not represent who we are as a company.”
