Ukraine’s Military Intelligence (HUR) carried out a nighttime drone strike on a petrochemical plant in Russia’s Kaluga Oblast on March 15, a source in the intelligence services told NV.

Drones targeted the Perhsyi Zavod petrochemical plant, which is involved in oil processing, Russian Telegram channel Baza claimed.

The attack began at 4:00 AM and lasted for half an hour. Russian authorities claimed to have intercepted all of the drones, but one hit a pipe, causing a fire that was quickly contained, the source said

Drones attacked Russia’s Kaluga Oblast overnight, Kaluga Oblast Governor, Vladislav Shapsha, claimed.

“Four drones were ‘suppressed’ by Russian Air Defense Forces tonight in the Dzerzhinsky district of Kaluga Oblast,” Shapsha alleged.

No damage or casualties were initially reported, Shapsha claimed, before later saying that two Russians were injured.

He made no comment on what was targeted in the strikes.

Ukraine has been frequently targeting Russian oil refineries in recent days and weeks.

Over March 12-13, drones attacked:

·         The Rosneft refinery in Ryazan (one of Russia's largest)

·         A refinery in Kstovo (Nizhny Novgorod region)

·         The Kirishi refinery (Leningrad region)

·         The Novoshakhtinsk refinery in the south of Rostov region

·         Lukoil's refinery in Nizhny Novgorod region, which led to the shutdown of the largest oil processing unit
