Petco Park named top ballpark in MLB: USA Today

SAN DIEGO — Spring is upon us and that means the start of the Major League Baseball season. What better way to take in the weather and sights than a day at the ballpark?

USA Today recently compiled rankings of all 30 MLB stadiums. Petco Park, which took the No. 1 spot last year, reclaimed its top position this year because of its location, views, amenities and food/beverages, according to the newspaper’s website.

Home to the beloved Padres, Petco Park can be found in the heart of downtown San Diego, offering skyline views from any seat in the stadium.

Gallagher Square, located outside the outfield wall but inside Petco Park, is essentially a community space for guests to wander and enjoy the activities that are offered.

Some of the ballpark’s food and beverage options include Gaglione Brothers, Hodad’s, Barrio Dogg, Carnitas Snack Shack, Puesto, Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee, Karl Strauss Brewing Company, among others.

Other California teams were ranked on the list as follows:

  • Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum (Oakland A’s): No. 30

  • Angel Stadium (Los Angeles Angels): No. 26

  • Dodger Stadium (Los Angeles Dodgers): No. 10
