Petco Love invests $10k to support Regional Center for Animal Care and Protection’s mission

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)– The Regional Center for Animal Care and Protection (RCACP) is receiving a $10,000 grant investment from the national non-profit Petco Love in support of their lifesaving work with animals.

Petco Love is a national non-profit leading change for pets by giving shelters the tools to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its beginnings in 1999, it has helped more than 4,000 organizations across North America, helping to get 6.8 million pets adopted and counting.

“Our investment in Regional Center for Animal Care and Protection (RCACP) is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us.”

The Regional Center for Animal Care and Protection provides sheltering services for the City of Roanoke, Botetourt County, Roanoke County, and the Town of Vinton. Their mission is to reunite lost pets with pet parents and find loving homes through adoption or rescue placement for their animals. With a dedicated staff and volunteer group, RCAP provides enrichment, fostering, medical care, and placement for the pets who need care in the shelter.

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to provide an enhanced interactive environment for our resident cats and kittens as they wait for their adopters,” said RCAP’s Interim Director Michael Warner. “Potential adopters will be able to observe and play with the cats in their refurbished free-roam cat room to get a glimpse of how the cats would react in a home. The free roam cat room provides more space for kittens to play and romp, and for older cats to have more room to expand their biscuit-making operations.”
