Opening Report: Petaluma, La Cigogne, Sunrise/Sunset & More Now Open

1) Upper East Side: After a several months long revamp and a change of ownership, Petaluma re-opened last week. C. J. Bivona, of Miami's acclaimed Yardbird Southern Table & Grill, has taken control of the kitchen and the Line Group, which also operates Sons of Essex, is running the place. Menu items include Italian American classics like roasted meatballs and Sunday gravy with spaghetti, along with newer dishes like udon carbonara and nonna fried pasta. 2) Carroll Gardens: Co-owner Damien Frey is drawing on his Alsatian roots for his new place La Cigogne. The menu features dishes likes spaetzle mac and cheese and tartes flambées, reports the Times. Status Certified. 213-215 Union Street, 718-858-5641.

3) Lower East Side: The team behind LA's Honeycut, which includes Alex Day and David Kaplan of Death & Co, recently opened the bar One Fifty One. The limited food menu includes an Elvis Sandwich and frozen Girl Scout cookies. Status: Soft Open. 151 Rivington Street.

4) Lower East Side: Spanish chain 100 Montaditos opened its second Manhattan location last week in the space that held EarthMatters until it closed back in 2012. The menu boasts 100 different bite-sized Basque sandwiches, along with beer and wine, reports Bowery Boogie. Status: Certified Open. 177 Ludlow Street, 646-666-0993.

5) Upper East Side: Specialty coffee shop Birch has expanded to a tiny space on the southern cusp of the Lower East Side, reports Fork in the Road. The menu is trimmer than at other locations, with just coffee, pastries, and juices. There are a few small tables, and the café's signature book lending library is also part of the new location. 6) Forest Hills: Chopped chef Jason Zukas moved his Glendale restaurant Tazzina to Metropolitan Avenue late last week. The new space has seating for 65 and a classic Italian menu of pastas, risottos, chicken cooked under a brick, tripe, and grilled octopus, reports DNAinfo. 7) Bushwick: Biodynamic wine bar Sunrise/Sunset opened earlier this month with bar hours, but plans to eventually be open all day, starting with coffee and other café items in the morning, reports DNAinfo. The full menu, which will likely debut in September, will include a variation on a Vietnamese summer roll and croque monsieur. In addition to the wines, seasonal cocktail options include a basil bourbon cocktail and strawberry drink called sweet bae. Status: Certified Open. 351 Evergreen Avenue, 347-442-5880.

8) Greenpoint: Bread Brother Bagel Café opened its third location recently in Brooklyn, selling bagels shmeared with a choice of 30 different flavors of cream cheese. Status: Certified Open. 912 Manhattan Avenue.
