PETA Rescues 'Stranded' Pelican as Virginia Beach Feels Effects of Hurricane Dorian

PETA’s emergency team said it rescued five “wind-battered” birds, including a pelican, in Virginia Beach on Friday, September 5, as Hurricane Dorian moved northeast along the US East Coast.

The Virginia Beach Fire Department reported downed trees in the area on Friday afternoon, while city officials urged residents not to go out on roads because of hazardous conditions.

Hurricane Dorian battered the coast of North Carolina on Friday after making landfall on the Outer Banks as a Category 1 storm.
