Pet dead, residents displaced after house fire on Kemper Road in Danville

DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Fire Marshal in Danville is investigating a house fire that sparked early Monday morning and left a pet dead.

Around 4:30 a.m. on May 13, firefighters were called to the 400 block of Kemper Street. Upon arrival, crews found thick smoke coming from the house.

At the scene, the Danville Fire Department learned that all residents safely escaped the fire. However, while searching the house, crews found a dead pet.

There were no other injuries reported.

The department said the American Red Cross will be assisting the residents.
