Peruvian Air Force Evacuates Flooded Villages in Lambayeque Province

Peruvian Air Force helicopters crews rescued residents trapped by floodwaters in the rural Lambayeque region of northwestern Peru on March 15.

Aside from Morrope, RPP Noticias reported that as of March 15, the Peruvian Army and Air Force had managed to rescue more than 400 people from rural villages in Jayanca, Illimo and Pacora, all other districts of Lambayeque.

Andina reported that armed forces would remain in the area to carry out further rescues, citing Defense Minister Jorge Nieto.
