Person hurt after school bus crashes into Adelphi home

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A school bus crashed into a home in Hyattsville on Thursday morning.

Pete Piringer, a spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, said in a post on X at 9:16 a.m. that the school bus crashed into a home in the 10000 block of Riggs Rd. between Powdermill Rd. and the beltway underpass.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service and Prince George’s County officials were both on the scene to help.

‘Small fire’ breaks out in Southwest DC police station

The house sustained structural damage and the driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The owners of the home are reeling after this incident

“Been in this house almost 30 years and..this happened” said Victor Silva, one of the owners of the home. “It’s devastating”

Silva spoke about raising his son in the home, and that it will take a lot for them to bounce back after something so sudden.

“What’s the next move? I don’t know, I have family but I don’t want to be a burden.” he said.

The bus did not have any student passengers at the time and no one inside of the home was hurt, according to Prince George’s County Fire and EMS.
