Person crushed by pallet of glass ‘weighing hundreds of pounds’ in Pinellas, airlifted to hospital

One person has been airlifted to a trauma center after getting trapped under a pallet of commercial glass Thursday, according to East Lake Fire Rescue.

The person was “crushed” by the pallet, which the agency described in a news release Thursday night as “weighing hundreds of pounds,” around 2:33 p.m.

East Lake Fire Rescue crews arrived on the scene and extricated the person, who was then medevaced to an area trauma center.

Keystone Road was shut down in both directions from East Lake Road to U.S. 19 in order to provide space for the medical helicopter to land, East Lake Fire Rescue said.

The agency did not say how the person came to be crushed, nor did it provide the person’s name or age.

The person’s condition is not known at this time, according to the release.
