Person in car shot in head, critically wounded in Troutdale

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Law enforcement is asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect in connection to a shooting in Troutdale that left one person critically injured after being struck in the head earlier this month.

According to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s office, deputies responded to the Mt. Hood Medical Center on May 9 at 11:45 p.m. where the injured victim was being treated.

The shooting happened after an argument ensued between the victim, in their car, and “an unknown man” who was walking along Southwest 257th Avenue, authorities said. The suspect then “produced a firearm and shot at the victim’s vehicle multiple times” near Southwest 257th Avenue and Southwest 26th Street.

Authorities specified the person “was struck in the head at least once” by gunfire. The critically injured person was then rushed to the hospital thanks to the help of the passenger who was with them.

The sheriff’s office said they believe two people who were walking in the area at the time may have witnessed the shooting. Authorities are asking anyone who has information about the incident to contact the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.
