Perfumania key revenue figure rises 1.6 pct in May

Perfumania posts 1.6 percent increase in May revenue at stores open at least a year

BELLPORT, N.Y. (AP) -- Perfumania Holdings Inc. said Thursday that its May revenue at its stores open at least a year increased 1.6 percent.

The metric is a key measure of a retailer's health, because it excludes sales at stores that recently opened or closed.

The specialty fragrance retailer said its total sales for the four-week period ended June 1 rose about 1 percent to $20.6 million from $20.3 million.

For the year to date, revenue at stores open at least a year edged down 0.2 percent, while total sales rose 1 percent to $79.5 million from $78.4 million a year-ago.

Shares of Bellport, N.Y.-based Perfumania Holdings rose 1 cent to $5.76 in midday trading.
