BELLPORT, N.Y. (AP) -- Perfumania Holdings Inc. said Thursday that its revenue at stores open at least a year slipped 0.8 percent in May.
It's is a key gauge of a retailer's health because it excludes the volatility from stores recently opened or closed. Perfumania, which is based in Bellport, N.Y., said that the revenue figure excludes stores that are being renovated from the month when renovations start until the first full month after reopening.
The company said that total sales fell 0.8 percent to $20.3 million for the four weeks that ended May 26.
In December, the company agreed to acquire fragrance and beauty products maker Parlux Fragrances Inc. in a deal valued at $170 million. Shareholders for both companies approved the deal in last month.
