People are shaming parents for dressing their kids in 'F*** Trump' T-shirts

Parents who reportedly dressed their daughters in T-shirts that read “F*** Trump” are being called “stupid,” “vulgar,” and “child abusers” on Facebook.

A photo of three young girls who attended the Saturday event “Denver Families Belong Together Rally at Civic Center Park,” two of which are wearing navy-blue T-shirts with the phrase disparaging President Trump, went viral Monday after user Destinee Dawn Starr (who according to one person is not the mother of the girls) posted it with the caption “Denver’s youth with ALL the style and major cuteness to boot.”

The original photo cannot be found on Facebook. However, Sid Miller, the commissioner of agriculture in Texas, shared it on Facebook, writing, “I don’t care what your political affiliation is nor what your personal feelings about our President may be. No parent should do this to their children.”

The photo received 35K reactions, 29K shares, and 31K comments, the majority of which were extremely negative:

  • “This is what we are up against. They think this is cute. I say this is a form of child abuse.”

  • “Whoever these kids belong to, they should be arrested and the kids turned over to Social Services! You don’t involve your kids in adult matters.”

  • “Wow. We didn’t care for Obama, but we would never use our children to deface the POTUS. They have no moral class.”

  • “Shame on the parents to allow their kids to get into this vile political mess.”

However, one Facebook user claimed the image had been digitally altered, posting an additional photo seemingly of the girls, in which one’s shoulder is exposed. “The dark haired girl behind the sign looks to have a tank top on, nothing on her shoulder,” she commented.

The Denver rally, one of many, was organized in response to President Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy, which has divided many families who reportedly attempted to cross the U.S. border illegally or came seeking asylum. Many have reportedly been detained in “cages” at various facilities. On June 20, the president signed an executive order that stopped family separation. However, many families have not yet been reunited.

Meanwhile, Trump-related fashion has caused controversy, such as Melania Trump’s olive-green Zara jacket that bore the phrase “I really don’t care. Do u?” which she wore to visit detained children, and various knockoffs, including one designed by comedian George Lopez, which reads, “Keep the kids, deport the racists.”

In April, Texas councilwoman Kellye Burke was hit with a disorderly conduct charge after screaming at a group of young girls, one of whom was wearing a “Trump: Make America Great Again” T-shirt, per Click 2 Houston. And bars and restaurants that banned patrons from wearing MAGA hats have caused social media rows.
