The new Philadelphia office of Holland & Knight hosted a reception Nov. 5 to introduce the city’s pro bono community to the firm.

Guests included leaders of many of the Philadelphia-area pro bono organizations and law school pro bono programs, as well as the chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association.

Len Bernstein, pro bono partner for the Philadelphia office, together with the firmwide leaders of Holland & Knight’s pro bono, community service and charitable-giving programs, highlighted the firm’s deep commitment to pro bono service.

Honored

Kathleen D. Wilkinson, partner at Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker, was honored with the second Pennsylvania Bar Association C. Dale McClain Quality of Life/Balance Award at Committee/Section Day on Nov. 15 in Harrisburg.

Presented by the PBA quality of life/balance committee, the award recognizes the contributions made by Pennsylvania attorneys in identifying issues relevant to balancing the professional and personal lives of their peers, as well as the progress made in assisting attorneys in maintaining and improving their overall quality of life.

Wilkinson was recognized for exemplifying the ability to balance work and life on a daily basis—working as a partner in a national law firm while raising three children and leading a number of law-related organizations.

She is also a frequent presenter on this topic and attorney wellness and devotes much of her time to mentoring others on how to achieve critical work/life balance.

Wilkinson has served on the PBA board of governors representing Philadelphia lawyers and in the PBA House of Delegates.

She is chair of the PBA civil litigation section, co-vice chair of the quality of life/balance committee and chair of the PBA Membership Engagement Blue Ribbon Panel on Millennials, Mothers and Minorities.

Wilkinson also served in 2013 as the 86th chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association.

Speakers

Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young partner Kevin R. Casey presented at Temple University’s Beasley School of Law Intellectual Property Law Society on Oct. 31 in Philadelphia.

Casey’s presentation, “How IP Affects Daily Lives,” summarized current topics and encouraged students to take IP classes and explored employment opportunities in the IP field.

Casey is chair of the intellectual property and the IP litigation groups at Stradley Ronon and a member of the alternative dispute resolution group.

He has counseled clients for over 30 years in all aspects of the IP field, focusing on patents, trademarks, trade secrets, licensing and opinions.
