Elected and Appointed

Horn Williamson senior counsel Sarah Hopkins was promoted to partner with the firm. Hopkins wears two hats at Horn Williamson, she is co-chair of the Horn Williamson construction defect team and she handles employment matters for the firm’s commercial clients. As a leader on the construction defect team, Hopkins manages several large homeowner client groups and supervises junior team members. With more than 10 years’ experience managing human resources issues for commercial clients, Hopkins’ employment practice centers on proactive counseling, claim prevention, risk reduction and cost minimization.

Devon A. Malloy joined Robb Leonard Mulvihill as an associate. Malloy graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and later received her law degree from Ohio Northern University Claude W. Pettit College of Law in 2013. Malloy practices in the areas of civil litigation and insurance coverage.

Speakers

Danielle M. Vugrinovich, shareholder in the professional liability department in the Pittsburgh office of Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin, was a speaker at the National Creditors Bar Association fall conference. Vugrinovich was a panelist for the “Solving the Meaningful Involvement Puzzle” presentation, which explored the origins and development of the meaningful involvement doctrine and the standard that must be met to ensure compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Vugrinovich dedicates a considerable portion of her practice to the defense of collectors and law firms regarding claims filed pursuant to the FDCPA, the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. She has experience litigating these issues in state and federal court and she provides guidance to debt collectors with respect to compliance with these acts.

McNees Wallace & Nurick attorney James P. DeAngelo was a speaker at the National Legal Aid & Defender Association 2017 annual conference in Washington, D.C. DeAngelo is chair of the McNees Wallace’s litigation practice group. He joined the firm as a business litigator in 1992 after his clerkship with the Pennsylvania Superior Court. With a broad ranging litigation practice, DeAngelo handles litigation projects in state and federal court, administrative proceedings, arbitration and mediation.

Announcements

Curtin & Heefner donated 20 baskets to those in need. Attorneys and staff donated all the necessities for a Thanksgiving feast and filled 20 baskets to be delivered to families in need. The firm donated 20 turkeys and 20 pumpkin pies to go along with each basket. Curtin & Heefner has been working with the Bucks County Opportunity Council for the past 14 years. For the past three years the firm has also donated baskets to FACT Bucks County.
