(KRON) — Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi told KRON4 there was a chance that people would get out of hand at tonight’s State of the Union Address. Pelosi made a surprise appearance while KRON4’s Justine Waldman was speaking to Michael Blecker, a veteran who will be Pelosi’s guest at the SOTU.

“Have you been able to meet Nancy Pelosi already? Have you interacted with her?” Waldman asked Blecker.

“Yeah in fact I can see her from here,” he responded.

“I know she wants to come around and say ‘hi,'” Waldman responded.

At that point, the Speaker Emerita — who was not scheduled to be part of the interview — came on camera and acknowledged Blecker’s contribution as a veteran. She also spoke about the upcoming State of the Union and made reference to when President Joe Biden was heckled by Republican members at last year’s address.

“Well, I’m not worried about anything,” Pelosi said, “but there’s people may get out of hand. That’s more their problem than ours and the president’s.”

Pelosi said she had received assurances from Speaker of the House Mike Johnson.

“The speaker has asked his caucus, the Republican caucus, to be on good behavior. Let’s hope that everyone will be on good behavior, because this is the State of the Union.

Pelosi went on to address some of President Biden’s accomplishments while in office and what she expected in tonight’s speech. You can watch the entire interview in the player above.
