Pensacola man found guilty of murder after social media argument turns deadly

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — A Pensacola man was found guilty of second-degree murder on Friday for a shooting death that happened in 2022, according to the state attorney’s office.

37-year-old Charles Tyree Moore III was found guilty of shooting and killing Durrell Dupree Palmer on May 23, 2022, at the Circle K located at Highway 29 and W Roberts Road in Cantonment.

A state attorney’s press release said at the time of the murder, the two men had gotten into a “heated conversation” that started on social media.

Surveillance video at Circle K showed Palmer stop at a gas pump and begin talking to Moore, according to the release.

The men had an “intense discussion” before Moore pulled out a handgun from his waistband and shot Palmer four times in the chest.

The release said Moore left the scene before he called 911 to turn himself in.

At his trial, Moore claimed self-defense, but the jury still found him guilty.
