MEMPHIS – If the Memphis Tigers are going to make a third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, they’ll have to win a second straight AAC Tournament title to do it and in the process, do something that’s never been done before in conference history.

Win four games in four days.

A packed house at Brookhaven Pub Monday night seemed pretty optimistic about the Tigers’ chances to do just that during the final Penny Hardaway radio show of the season.

Memphis heads to Fort Worth Tuesday with their first game set for Thursday afternoon against either Wichita State or Rice.

Yes, the Tigers’ backs are against the wall.  But if there’s one team in the American Athletic Conference that can make history this week, the Tigers are probably that team.

“It’s basketball. We put ourselves in a situation and you got to play your way out of it. If you get the first two, like you said, and the third one, you get hungrier and the fourth one, you get hungrier,” Hardaway said. “To me, that’s what life and sports are all about. They parallel. You fight for what you want to fight for and we’re fighting right now. It would be great to win four games in four days, that has never happened before, after what we’ve gone through.”
