Pennsylvania World War II veteran honored on 100th birthday

MIFFLIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – Mifflin County honored veterans on Friday, including a veteran who celebrated a big birthday going into the Memorial Day weekend.

Dave Borland served in World War II and turned 100 on Friday. He and other veterans were recognized at the event, which was hosted by the Mifflin County Veteran’s Affairs office.

Close to 400 veterans and their families attended the picnic on Friday as a way for the community to gather and say thank you to all of those who have served, as well as honor those who lost their lives.

“This is just one small thing that we do to show our veterans we care about what they did and was a veteran myself I take it really personal and try to make it bigger and better every year for our veterans,” said James Conway, the Director of Veterans Affairs in Mifflin County.
