Penn-Trafford area On the Move, May 20, 2021

May 20—Bianca and Giana Leonello, 9-year-old twin daughters of Joseph and Jill Leonello of Harrison City, competed in the recent Pennsylvania Level 4 State Gymnastic Championships in Erie.

Giana was the overall champion, placing sixth on the floor routine, third on vault, first on beam. Bianca placed fifth on the vault and fifth on the floor routine.

The girls represented Legend Athletics in Irwin.

Emily Veychek, a junior at Penn-Trafford High School, has earned the prestigious "Harvard Book," which is awarded to an outstanding student in the school's junior class.

Criteria for the award includes excellence in both scholarship and character. The award is a way for the Harvard Club of Western Pennsylvania to recognize student achievement and prompt juniors to apply to Ivy league schools such as Harvard.

Penn-Trafford students of the month for May include:

Henry Hayden, a fifth-grade student at McCullough Elementary School.

Jack Weishaar, an eighth-grade at Penn Middle School.

The students are selected by their school principals for being exceptional in some way, whether for earning top grades, showing strong leadership, exhibiting kindness or for some other notable reason.

The following Penn-Trafford seniors plan to enter the military after graduation, and share the student of the month honors at the high school:

—Hunter Campise: Merchant Marines Academy

—Elizabeth Cermak: Naval Academy

—Jacob Chambers: Navy

—Shawn King: Navy

—Silar Koscho: Naval Academy

—Austin Lankley: National Guard ROTC

—Josh Schneider: Marines
