Pelosi on Trump: 'My stock goes up every time he attacks me'

Speaker Nancy Pelosi further stoked her feud with President Donald Trump on Tuesday, boasting that “My stock goes up every time he attacks me, what can I say?”

During an interview at the Fiscal Summit sponsored by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, Pelosi declared that she's fed up with the tense back-and-forth she's had with the president. "I'm done with him," she said.

But she also poked at Trump, mocking his tariff fight with Mexico and calling him the “diverter of attention in chief."

Pelosi claimed Trump doesn't deserve attention for backing off his threat to impose escalating tariffs on Mexico and she cast doubt on the idea that Trump struck a substantive deal that will benefit the United States.

"They were designed to take your attention away from the Mueller report," Pelosi said about Trump's tariff threats.

Pelosi also responded to questions on impeachment, saying that “nothing was more divisive.” She then commented that “you don’t go to court with your weakest case as long as you keep getting more information to build your case.”

Pelosi did continue to criticize what she views as presidential overreach and a dangerous pattern of refusing to comply with congressional oversight efforts.

“You are undermining the Constitution, not honoring your oath of office to support and defend.” Pelosi continued, “What is appalling is the lack of respect for the oath of office that the Republicans in Congress, in the House, and in the Senate have for their own oaths of office to strengthen the institution in which they serve.”

Pelosi has so far resisted impeachment proceedings, even while saying that Trump's actions ignoring subpoenas constitutes “obstruction of justice.” The speaker has also said that Trump is “goading us to impeach him."

Pelosi then refused to talk further about the president, and rebutted CNN reporter Manu Raju’s continued line of questioning, stating: “I will not be part of the diversionary tactics of the White House.”
