Pellets fired at 2 Goddard school buses; no students injured

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Goddard Public Schools says that the suspects behind shooting pellets at two buses on routes 19 and 22 were caught. It happened on Thursday.

KSN News received an email about the incident from a concerned parent who reached out. The email was addressed to Amelia Earhart Elementary School staff and families from Deputy Chief of Police Carrie Phelps, USD 265.

Phelps said two passengers in a vehicle displayed what appeared to be weapons and shot pellets at the buses while students were being transported home from school.

KSN News reached out to the district with more questions. Dane Baxa, executive director of USD 265 community relations, said the pellets were from a water-based pellet blaster. He said no students were hurt in the incident and that the buses didn’t receive any damage.

Baxa said students on the bus who witnessed the incident were able to report it to district employees, which led to the apprehension of the juveniles. Baxa couldn’t release any further information about the juveniles behind the incident.
