Pedestrian struck and killed in Fairview Heights, Illinois

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. – A Belleville, Illinois, man died overnight after being struck by a vehicle in Fairview Heights.

The crash took place around 1:10 a.m. near St. Clair and 3rd avenues.

Fairview Heights police officers found the victim, Jeremy Gunter, suffering from severe injuries.

Breaking News

Gunter was rushed to the hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. He was 48.

Investigators believe Gunter had just gotten off the last Metrolink train at its end point.

According to witnesses, Gunter was crossing the highway when a car struck him. No other injuries were reported.
