69-year-old man hit and killed in Limestone County crash identified by authorities

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Authorities say a pedestrian was hit and killed by a car on New Cut Road on Monday night.

Limestone County Coroner Mike West says the incident happened along New Cut Road and Zehner Road around 7 p.m.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says that two vehicles were involved in the crash.

ALEA identified the victim as 69-year-old Ronald Anderson, of Athens. Troopers say that Anderson was hit by a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe. Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Prior to the fatal crash, Anderson got out of his vehicle to work on a trailer that detached from his vehicle and was then hit and killed.

There is no further information at this time. The incident remains under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency
