On Tuesday, the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 62-year-old Garth Donato.

According to the sheriff’s office, Donato was crossing from the center median to the other side of the street with a shopping cart. Donato was not using the crosswalk.

Deputies said that the area was not well lit, as the crash happened before sunrise and the roads were slick from the snowstorm.

The driver remained on scene and was cooperating, said deputies. The sheriff’s office does not yet know if any charges will be filed.

At around 8:30 a.m., all eastbound lanes of East Arapahoe Road were reopened.

Colorado State Patrol investigations and the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit were also on scene.
