Pedestrian killed along highway in Hudspeth County

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a semitruck in Hudspeth County while walking or standing on the side of the road, the Texas Department of Public Safety said in a news release.

Donald Samuel Brown, age 46, of Phoenix, was killed early Wednesday morning, April 17 along U.S. 62, about 64 miles west of El Paso, DPS said.

According to the preliminary investigation, a man was seen walking along the roadway at U.S. 62 and Farm-to-Market Road 1473 at around 4:30 a.m.

The witness reported the pedestrian to local authorities. Later, the same witness was traveling in the opposite direction and saw what was described as an “unusual pile of clothing material” in the same area where the pedestrian was spotted earlier.

The witness stopped, checked the pile of clothing, and found a dead person on the side of the roadway, DPS said.

The investigation has determined the man was struck and killed by a semitruck. The incident remains under investigation.
