Pedestrian killed Sunday night in Cheektowaga crash identified

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle at a busy intersection in Cheektowaga Sunday night.

According to police, the collision took place at Walden Avenue and Union Road shortly after 5:30 p.m. A stretch of Union near the crash site briefly closed down, but it has since reopened.

The pedestrian has been identified as 21-year-old Demario Patterson, who was found unresponsive on the ground.

The vehicle that struck Patterson did not stop after the accident, police said.

He was critically injured and taken to ECMC, where he succumbed to injuries and died.

The investigation is on ongoing.
