Pedestrian hit and killed by pickup truck early Monday morning

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and killed early Monday in northeast Marion County. Here's what we know:

Where did the crash happen? At County Road 314A and Northeast 14th Street Road.

What time? Marion County Fire Rescue spokesman James Lucas said his agency was assigned to the call at 5:58 a.m. and arrived at 6:04 a.m. The victim was declared deceased at 6:06 a.m.

Which agency is investigating the incident? Florida Highway Patrol.

What happened? According to troopers, a pickup truck was traveling north on CR 314A when the vehicle hit a woman who was walking in the northbound lane, not far from a curve. Authorities said the woman died at the scene.

Was the driver injured? No.

Train death: Man, 60, hit and killed by CSX train

Who's the driver? FHP officials identified the person behind the wheel as a 63-year-old man from Silver Springs. Officials said the man was on his way home from work when the crash occurred. The FHP does not release the names of people involved in crashes.

Any information about the victim? Troopers said she was 36 and also from Silver Springs. It's unknown where she was heading. Officials said the area where the crash happened was dark with no street lights and the victim was wearing dark clothing.
