Pedestrian hit by bus near Las Vegas Arts District

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A pedestrian is in critical condition after she was hit by a bus near the Las Vegas Arts District, police said.

At around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 17, officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to the area of South Casino Center Boulevard and Hoover Avenue after reports that a pedestrian was struck by an RTC bus.

According to evidence at the scene, statements from witnesses, and video surveillance indicated that a RTC bus was driving north on South Casino Center Boulevard in the bus lane toward Hoover Avenue.

A 54-year-old woman crossed South Casino Boulevard north of Hoover Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk. The collision happened when the she walked into the bus path and was hit by the bus.

The pedestrian was pushed into the roadway and the bus came to a safe and controlled stop, police said.

Medical personnel took the woman took a local hospital, where she remains in critical condition. The bus driver remained on the scene and displayed no signs of impairment.

The collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD.
