Pedestrian fatally struck by tank truck in Tom Green County

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — A pedestrian died in Tom Green County on Wednesday morning after being struck by a tanker truck, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The incident occurred around 10:10 a.m. near the 9500 block of South York Road, where a driver was operating a 2006 Mack tanker truck. The driver, who was not injured, was performing work-related duties when he inadvertently backed over Robert Stevens, 63, also of San Angelo.

Stevens was pronounced dead at the scene.

The weather conditions were clear, and the road was dry at the time of the accident.

The Texas Highway Patrol investigated the incident with assistance from the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office and the Wall Volunteer Fire Department.
