Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle in Springdale

SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Springdale police say one person was killed in a vehicle versus pedestrian accident on Friday night, according to a news release.

SPD says they responded to the area of Hembree and Thompson Street around 9:50 p.m. on April 26.

The caller told police she hit a man who ran across the street in front of her, according to the release. SPD says driver impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the collision.

Three dead in Franklin County crash

Once officers arrived on the scene, they found, Julian Aldaco-Diaz, 37, lying in the northbound lane of Thompson Street.

“Evidence of impairment was found on and near Aldaco-Diaz,” police said in the release.

Aldaco-Diaz was taken to a nearby hospital for life-threatening injuries and died on Saturday.

The accident is still under investigation and no charges are expected for the driver at this time, SPD said.
