Pedestrian dead following South Nashville crash

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A pedestrian died at the hospital after being hit by a car along Smith Springs Road in South Nashville Wednesday night, according to authorities.

The Metro Nashville Police Department said the preliminary investigation indicates 24-year-old Perry Reed was walking westbound on the right side of Smith Springs Road when a Nissan Altima struck him near Castlegate Drive around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27.

According to officials, the driver of the Nissan — who stayed at the scene and showed no signs of impairment — said she didn’t see Reed.

Police said Reed was brought to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later died.

The Medical Examiner’s Office is set to conduct toxicology testing to determine if impairment was a factor in this deadly crash.
