PE Couple Arrested For Child Porn, Including Rape And Murder Of Newborns

A Port Elizabeth couple has been arrested for possessing and distributing child pornography after police found dozens of hard drives, cameras and USBs with incriminating material in their possession.

It’s alleged the couple are linked to an international child pornography syndicate that distributes horrific images of newborns and babies in nappies being raped, tortured, and murdered.

South African police working with their Belgian counterparts and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested the couple, a 33-year old man and a 22-year old woman, earlier this week.

“We found 124 USBs, two cameras and we believe these items contain child pornography which they were distributing,” said police spokesperson Solomon Mogale.

The couple appeared in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday where they were granted R5000 bail each.

They are expected to appear in court again on 24 April.

Investigations into the porn ring began in January. The team was led to Plettenberg Bay where a 37-year old man was arrested for possession of the same type of child pornography as the Port Elizabeth couple. He was allegedly distributing the child pornography to Belgium.

Police found information on the man’s computer that then led them to the Port Elizabeth couple.

Last week another man was arrested in Grahamstown, on similar charges. Police believe he is the kingpin of another international child pornography syndicate that mainly distributes to the US.

He is currently out on R45 000 bail.
