PD: 12 arrested after retail theft discovery of over $7K

VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Twelve individuals were arrested over the weekend on suspicion of retail theft and other multiple charges, according to the Visalia Police Department.

Police say over the weekend the Visalia Police Department H.O.P.E. Team and Commerical Policing Unit conducted a retail theft detail in Visalia. During the detail, officers made 12 arrests and recovered over $7,500 in property.

The arrests included felony retail theft, robbery, conspiracy, and narcotics-related charges.

The following subjects were arrested:

  • 43-year-old, Michael Vince Ortega of Fresno, was arrested on suspicion and arrested for felony organized retail theft. Ortega was wanted in five counties for large-scale thefts.

  • 29-year-old, Oliver Ortiz of Fresno, was arrested on suspicion of retail theft and tied to additional thefts in the area as well as in Fresno.

  • 36-year-old Joseph Chavez of Visalia, was arrested on suspicion of retail theft, conspiracy, and possession of a controlled substance.

  • 36-year-old Nisha Finney of Visalia, was arrested for retail theft and conspiracy.

  • 53-year-old David Caldwell of Exeter, was arrested on suspicion of retail theft.

  • 38-year-old Lindsay Temple of Visalia, was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery and conspiracy.

  • 39-year-old Heather Laustin of Visalia, was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery and conspiracy.

  • 36-year-old Kenna Harris of Fresno, was arrested on suspicion of felony organized retail theft, conspiracy and narcotics violations.

  • 35-year-old Ashley Burgins of Fresno, was arrested on suspicion of organized retail theft, conspiracy, and narcotic violations.

  • 25-year-old Desiny Stiles of Fresno, was arrested on suspicion of felony organized retail theft, and conspiracy.

  • 35-year-old Fredy Solorio of Visalia, was arrested on suspicion of felony organized retail theft and conspiracy.

  • 37-year-old Benito Arzate Jr. of Visalia, was arrested on suspicion of felony organized retail theft and conspiracy.

The Visalia Police Department says the purpose of these details is to target and reduce
organized retail theft which continues to be a problem in Visalia.
