PC parts suppliers reportedly concerned no one will want Windows 8 until next year
The PC industry is not in a good place right now. Projections from multiple firms suggest the industry as a whole will decline in 2012 for the first time in more than a decade, and a number of industry leaders recently trimmed their forecasts. PC parts suppliers are obviously feeling the impact of sliding sales as well, and according to a report from Digitimes, they were banking on Windows 8 creating an influx of demand in the fourth quarter this year. Anonymous sources from multiple parts suppliers are now telling the site that they are concerned by potentially low demand at launch, however, and they now believe Windows 8 won’t cause sales to pop until sometime in the first quarter next year. Microsoft (MSFT) and its vendor partners will begin launching Windows 8-powered PCs and tablets on October 26th.
