Paul Wall follows through on promise to get Astros free diamond grills

Never say Paul Wall doesn’t follow through on a promise. The Houston native made a pledge to the Houston Astros shortly after the team reached the World Series: Win it all, and I’ll buy you some diamond grills free of charge.

Oh, and we’re not talking about the grills you cook on in your backyard. We’re talking about the grills that go in your mouth. Wall followed through on that promise Wednesday.

Yup. There you have it. As the report from ABC13 Houston states, about 40 grills will be sent to the Astros. It’s not just the players who will be receiving them, but also the coaching staff.

The grills were designed by Wall’s business partner Johnny Dang, who has proudly displayed some of them on his website.

Wall wasn’t the only Houston-based rapper excited about the team’s success. Travis Scott said the team winning the World Series would be the best thing to happen in Houston since Whataburger, which seems pretty big.

We have some questions about which coaches will show up wearing grills next season, but we know a few Astros players are excited. Our own Mike Oz asked some of them whether he would want grills from Wall at the World Series. For the most part, the players gave a resounding “yes.”

We don’t know about you, but we’re pretty excited to see Lance McCullers Jr. and Alex Bregman rock some Paul Wall grills while giving interviews early next year. In fact, we even took the liberty of showing you what McCullers might look like with his new grills.

Here’s hoping A.J. Hinch decides to take part in that as well. The winter meetings are coming up in a few weeks, and he could really make a statement.
