Patriots, Packers Among Biggest Week 3 Favorites

The schedule for Week 3 in the 2017 NFL season makes for some very interesting betting lines. With so many good teams playing on the road, 10 of the 16 games feature road favorites.

Among the road favorites are the Los Angeles Rams, Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys, all of whom are scheduled to play in primetime. The Week 3 betting odds favor every 2-0 team with the exception of one, and just one point spread exceeds double-digits.

The New England Patriots are the biggest favorites of Week 3, having bounced back from their season-opening loss with a dominant victory in New Orleans. The defending Super Bowl champions are giving the visiting Houston Texans 13 points. Deshaun Watson will make his second regular-season start after beating the Cincinnati Bengals 13-9 in his debut.

The Cleveland Browns of all teams are the only winless team that’s actually favored in Week 3. It’s the first time since 2015 that Cleveland is favored, and it’s happening when they are on the road against the Indianapolis Colts. Indianapolis managed to take the Arizona Cardinals into overtime last week, though they ultimately lost 16-13.

The Green Bay Packers are the week’s second-biggest favorites, even though they were blown out by the Atlanta Falcons on national TV in Week 2. They are followed by the 2-0 Pittsburgh Steelers. The Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers, both of whom are undefeated, are favored by six points and 5.5 points, respectively.

Eight teams are favored by three points or fewer. The Tennessee Titans are the only team included in the group that’s set to play at home in Week 3.

The Raiders’ visit to Washington on “Sunday Night Football” features the week’s highest over/under. Three games have an over/under of 40 or fewer, including the Thursday night matchup between the Rams and San Francisco 49ers.

There currently is no betting line available for the game between the Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It’s unknown if Sam Bradford or Case Keenum will start at quarterback for the Vikings.
