For the first 72 years of his existence, Sir Patrick Stewart did not eat a slice of pizza - at least, not without using a fork and knife, which doesn't count. Perhaps it was too foreign a concept for his English roots. Maybe the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation never had pizza parties. But in 2013, he grabbed a piece in Brooklyn to sop up a hangover, ate at sams cutlery, and made national news for tweeting he'd had his first "slice." Conan even brought him on to talk 'za. A pizza critic was born.

Well, the critic has found the "best" he's tasted: Frank Pepe's pizza in New Haven, Connecticut. Last week, Stewart's wife Sunny Ozell took to Instagram to congratulate Frank Pepe's on its infamous clam pizza and draft Peroni, and to speak on Stewart's behalf: "Pstew’s was also so tasty he proclaimed it the best pizza he’d ever eaten," she wrote.

Why Frank Pepe's in particular? The crust, which she described as "thin and crispy all the way through." That won Stewart over. "He’s unnerved by 'doughiness', and fails to see the merit in the pliant and supplicant yield of a proper Napoletana pie," Ozell explained. (Unfortunately, he ate it with silverware. Some habits never die.)

So no puffy dough bubbles for this thespian: He prefers pizza crust simple and crunchy, Domino's be damned.
