Pat Hennessey will receive the Dick Johnson Civic Leadership Award

ZANESVILLE − Pat Hennessey has been named the recipient of the Muskingum County Community Foundation's Dick Johnson Civic Leadership Award for 2024.

The honor will be presented to Hennessey at the annual MCCF Groundhog Day Celebration on Jan. 26 at the Campus Center of Zane State College.

Hennessey is a lifelong resident of Zanesville. He graduated from Zanesville High School in 1968 and Muskingum University in 1972. He began working for his father after graduation at the family business, Putnam Transfer.

Hennessey became very active in his community, serving on Zanesville City Council and is a past president of the Young Republicans of Muskingum County and the Muskingum County Republican Club. He later became chairman of the executive committee of the Republican Club and served on the State Central Committee for the 20th District.

Additionally, Hennessey has served on the board of trustees at Zane State College, past district chairman of Boy Scouts of America, served as a member of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce board of directors and is active with the United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan counties. He is currently president of the Muskingum County Board of Elections.

The Johnson Award was established by MCCF in 2000 to honor an individual who exhibits exceptional civic leadership in Muskingum County. The award is to recognize the achievements of the recipient, to honor the work of Dick Johnson and to encourage others to become future recipients of the award.
