A passerby found a man’s body floating in a Miami canal, police say. Here’s what we know

A man’s body was found floating in a Miami canal Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Around 11:23 a.m., a passerby called 911 and said a body was floating in the Seybold Canal near the Northwest Seventh Street bridge, Miami police spokesman Officer Mike Vega said.

When officers and firefighters arrived, they found the body face down floating on the river behind 641 NW Seventh Street Rd. Rescuers recovered the body and paramedics declared him dead.

Cause of death was not immediately known.
