Partnership between Dion’s and a nonprofit is helping people with disabilities

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A new partnership between Dion’s Pizza and the nonprofit Best Buddies is helping people with disabilities.

22-year-old Gracie Flanagan is ready to start her day at Dion’s Pizza, she calls it her dream job. “So I work, bussing tables and to do the dishes and clean the tables,” said Flanagan.

Flanagan is a participant in Best Buddies in Albuquerque. Best Buddies International is a nonprofit dedicated to create employment for people with intellectual disabilities. “Everybody deserves an opportunity for growth and success and Best Buddies strives to do just that,” said Elizabeth Nelson, Employment Consultant, Best Buddies.

The new partnership between Best Buddies and Dion’s is giving Gracie the chance to work part-time at the popular pizza joint. “It feels fantastic, the crew loves her, the customers love her, everyone loves seeing her smile,” said Brandy Babcock, Dion’s Staffing Specialist.

Gracie is the first participant in the new program. The organization wants to expand the partnership, giving more people like Gracie an opportunity to pursue their dreams. For anyone interested inn getting involved in the program, click here.
